The bets

Twenty years of small to mid-sized bets. Most miss quietly; a few change everything. Here's all of it — the ones in flight and the ones already in the books.

Local AI

Our own rack of Mac Studios, running models at full blast.

We run six Mac Studios — 2× 512GB M3 Ultras and 4× 128GB M4 Max — driving local AI models 24/7. We love local AI: own the compute, keep the data, ship tools that don't depend on someone else's API or quota.

Broadband successor

The spiritual successor to BroadbandNow.

After crunching billions of rows to map every ISP in the country, we learned a lot about where internet data is broken. The next chapter applies those lessons to a sharper, modern take on the problem.

GoAndorra

Street View for an entire country, built from scratch.

We scanned all of Andorra with a 360° camera — 260,000 high-res panoramas — and built a search engine on top. A technical triumph, mothballed rather than buried: the archive is intact, waiting for its moment.

2021–2023 · home run

Transparency for the energy industry.

Look up emissions, production, and sales data for every electric company in the US — plus availability, average bills, and more. Another billion-scale data directory.

2B rows of senior-care data + the SSG that rendered it.

Elder Guide crunched 2+ billion rows of government data to help families make senior-care decisions. To build it fast we open-sourced Elder.js, the static site generator behind it. Its successor — Boom — now powers this site.

2017–2018

Business internet, demystified.

Businesses shopping for internet have a unique set of problems. A focused tool to streamline the search.

2014–2018 · home run

Research, compare, and shop internet in your neighborhood.

Easily the biggest home run. We crunched over a billion rows of data to make every ISP in the country searchable and comparable. A category-defining directory play.

Gwun (the original)

Email marketing for real estate — the one that started it all.
